Turnitin
What is it?
Turnitin is a Web-based plagiarism detection and prevention system owned by Turnitin.com, Inc., to which Penn State has a subscription. Turnitin can be used as a means to teach students how to work with sources and to raise awareness of paraphrasing and quoting skills in order to avoid plagiarism.

Apply for a Turnitin Account
Complete Turnitin account activation instructions are available on the "Information for Faculty" page. Only faculty teaching official Penn State courses can automatically receive access to the Penn State Turnitin service.
For help with activating a Turnitin account, please contact turnitin@psu.edu and staff at the ITS Help Desk can provide you with the information needed to create an account on the Penn State instance of TurnItIn.
Note: The account activation procedure will change on May 7, 2012.

Quick-Start
- Contact turnitin@psu.edu to create an account with Turnitin. Accounts are limited to faculty, graduate assistants, and staff who are teaching a course.
- Log in to Turnitin
Use Your Access Account ID and Password
Penn State community members are able to log in to Turnitin.com using their Access Account ID and password at http://turnitin.psu.edu. If you are already logged in to WebAccess, you will go directly to your Turnitin profile.
For accounts created prior to August 2006: If you used a different email account as your Turnitin ID when you originally created your account, you will need to change your Turnitin User ID to match your Penn State Access Account ID at Turnitin.com before logging in.

iStudy for Success! Module on Academic Integrity, Plagiarism, and Copyright
An iStudy for Success! module has been created that addresses the issues of academic integrity, plagiarism, and copyright in the Penn State community. The content of this module has been reviewed by the Academic Integrity committees at various colleges and locations throughout the Penn State community as well as by Judicial Affairs, and is appropriate for use in all courses to address academic integrity and related issues and consequences.
