"Learning is a process, not a product."

Jerome Bruner

There are two major premises underlying this course. The first is that the design of instruction is an analytical process that must be planned if it is to be effective. Instructional design is a process to:
  1. identify learner characteristics and instructional requirements
  2. guide the construction of effective learning experiences
  3. assess the success of these learning experiences
The second premise is that creativity is as important to the design process as planning and analysis.

In this course, you will be introduced to the field of instructional design, the systematic approach to designing instructional products and current and emerging interactive technologies. In addition, you will assume the role of an instructional designer and design an instructional product using an existing (or developed) model of your choice.
