Analyze Phase: First of the General Instructional Design Phases. The
purpose of this phase is to determine what the job holder must know or do on
the job.
Behavior: Any activity the learner will be expected to exhibit after
instruction. The activity should be observable and measurable. It is the
primary component of a objective.
Condition: The component of objective that describes the
situation/environment in which the learner must exhibit the specified behavior.
Design Phase: The second of the General Instructional Design Phases. The
purpose of this phase is to define the information from which the
instruction will be developed.
Develop Phase: The third of the General Instructional Design Phases. The
purpose of this phase is to build upon the analysis and design phases, generating the training (learning) support materials. Recall that the evaluation phase feeds into all phases and here, the evaluation phase provides feedback on the effectiveness and efficiency of the training materials.
Entry behaviors: Specific competencies or skills a learner must have
mastered before entering a given instructional activity.
Evaluation Phase: The fifth of General Instructional Design Phases. The
purpose of this phase is determine the value or worth of the instructional
program. This phase is actually conducted during and between all other
general phases.
Implement Phase: The fourth of the General Instructional Design Phases.
The instruction is actually delivered to the students during this phase.
Instructional Analysis: The procedures applied to an instructional goal in
order to identify the relevant skills and their subordinate skills and
information required for a student to achieve the goal.
Instructional Goals: Clear statements of behavior that learners are to
demonstrate as a result of instruction.
Needs Assessment: Problem identification process that looks at the
difference between "what is" and "what should be" for a particular situation.
Objective: A statement of what the learners will be expected to do when
they have completed a specified course of instruction.
Skill: An ability to perform an action or group of actions.
Target population: The total collection of users of a given instructional
program.
