Override Font: Netscape & Mozilla

Netscape 4.7

This Web page gives instructions on how to override a Web page font in Netscape 4.

  1. Under the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
  2. You should see a window with a list of options on the left. Under the Appearances options, choose Fonts.
  3. Turn ON the circular radio button next to "Use my fonts, overriding page-specified fonts." Click OK to close the window.

  4. The pages should now show your default fonts.
  5. DON'T FORGET to put your browser back on its original settings when you are finished viewing a problematic Web page.

Netscape 6,7 and Mozilla

  1. Under the Edit menu, choose Preferences. Mac OS X users go to Netscape then Preferences.
  2. You should see a window with a list of options on the left. Click the triangle icon next to  the Appearances options,  to open a submenu, then choose Fonts.
  3. Turn OFF the option to "Allow documents to use other fonts." Click OK to close the window.

  4. The pages should now show your default fonts.
  5. DON'T FORGET to put your browser back on its original settings when you are finished viewing a problematic Web page
