There are several practices and concepts in education which are related to case teaching, but not identical. Below is a list of some terms with a list of where to get more information.
Problem Based Learning and Inquiry Based Learning
Problem Based Learning (P.B.L.) and Inquiry Based Learning (I.B.L.) are similar to case teaching in that students learn concepts by examining a series of real world open-ended scenarios and working to provide solutions. This is popular among some medical schools where entire courses are in the problem based learning format.

Teams
Most case-based assignments are done in teams, but other types of projects and class work can also be done in teams. The following lists resources for effectively using teams in the classroom.
