Here are some tips about how the ANGEL Course Management System can facilitate the use of cases in courses.
Case Documents
You can use ANGEL to provide student access to case documents in several ways:
- Lessons Tab - You can upload files or create helper documents in the Lessons area. You can place contents in a "Case" folder and create sub folders to further organize files.
- Links - Links to external Web sites can be created under the Lessons tab the Communicate tab.
Note: If you need special scripting to show your materials online, then it may be better to post your files outside of ANGEL and link to them from inside ANGEL. - Fact Quizzes (Lessons Tab) - Giving your students a short quiz about the basics of the case documents can help both you and the students be sure that the basic facts are understood.
- Library Tools (Resources Tab) - You can ask the University Libraries to create course-specific research guides or post journal articles in the Electronic Reserves.
Team Tools
The ANGEL has the following tools which can help you facilitate team and team communication management.
- Team Editor (Manage Tab > Teams) - Allows you to assign students to teams, including multiple team assignments and random team creation.
- Team Files (Manage Tab > Teams) - When assigning teams, you have the option of creating a team file space where students can share files.
- E-Mail (Communicate Tab) - Once teams are assigned, you can send e-mails to individual teams. Students can also send batch e-mails to all the members in their team.
- Discussion Forums (Lessons) - An asynchronous discussion board area which can be set for individual teams.
- Live Chat (Communicate) - A synchronous communication tool. You can build one for each team.
Team Tools for Students
- Team Files (Communicate) - When assigning teams, you have the option of creating a tem file space where students can share files.
- Groups - If students need access to the full range of ANGEL editing tools, then you can create a group for each team and enroll the students as editors (or students can create an ANGEL Group on their own). In a group, students can set up their own folders, message boards, chat rooms, surveys and more.
