Step 2 - Digitize
Once your media content is on video or audio tape, it needs to be converted into digital format in a process known as digitizing.
If your media is already available as a computer file, skip to the encode step.
If you don't have a computer that is capable of digitizing media, you can use the digitizing stations available in the ITS multimedia labs.To find out which ITS labs have multimedia software and equipment, visit the Lab Hours and Locations page.
The Faculty Multimedia Center (FMC) has several digitizing stations that any faculty or teaching assistant can use at no cost. The FMC also provides digitizing services for a fee.
If you choose to digitize your media outside of the FMC, you will need to take the next step and encode the media as well.
You can also have a for-fee production unit such as WPSU-TV digitize and encode your media.
Please Note: If you or anyone outside the FMC encodes your media, be sure it meets the ITS Streaming Services encoding specifications.
