Graduate Assistantships in Teaching and Learning with Technology
Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT), a unit of Information Technology Services, helps Penn State instructors take advantage of information technology to enrich the educational experience of their students. TLT services are designed to support and promote creative and innovative uses of technology in courses to actively engage learners in acquiring and assimilating the core principles and experiences of a discipline.
Because of the breadth of support provided by TLT, we fill assistantships with students having a wide variety of skill sets and give them real project experience. For example, our current assistantships include:
- Instructional design and development of new additions to the online iStudy for Success! modules
- Developing search algorithms for the e-Learning Repository project that integrate with various other systems (Angel, Plone, FacultyCommunities, etc)
- Identifying emerging trends in educational technology by performing scholarly research and perform qualitative analysis of existing texts
- Survey research and statistical analysis for assessment of TLT services such as Adobe Connect, student labs and technology classrooms, Blogs at Penn State, etc.
- Development of a performance management process, including training materials, for IT staff
- Assess and implement the Media Commons and the Educational Gaming Commons initiatives
