With technologies such as GPS and smartphones, maps have become a ubiquitous part of modern life. One no longer has to unfold a map to find out where to go, and today's electronic maps offer information beyond just street names, ranging from real-time traffic data to the location and rating of the nearest Thai restaurant. So, it makes sense that the role of maps is growing in some surprising ways in education as well.
