TLT CoffeeRead for 3/9: Duke Introduces New Applications for Mobile Devices

TLT CoffeeReads take a look at educational technology in the media, from Penn State to around the world. Innovations at other schools, education and technology issues, new products and services, and other news are among subjects covered. These are designed to get people thinking and talking about how the articles relate to what we are doing here at Penn State in teaching and learning with technology.

Duke Introduces New Applications for Mobile Devices

"Duke University is launching a suite of new mobile applications that will enable students, faculty and staff to browse the campus events calendar, access the campus map, check live sports scores and view top videos from iTunes U and YouTube, all from their mobile devices."

Sounds like an interesting suite of tools - what could Penn State produce to match this or even do it better?

I really wonder what this would do at PSU? Do enough of our students have iPhones/iPod Touches to warrant an investment like this? I know I would use it quite a bit, but what about others?
