Alan Levine's talk, panel discussion on new media in education available via video
Levine discusses digital storytelling, including 50+ ways to tell a story via Web 2.0.
Alan Levine, vice president, community & chief technology officer for the New Media Consortium, was at the University Tuesday, May 5 for an afternoon of discussion on educational new media.
Alan offered a presentation on the more than 50 ways to tell a story using Web 2.0. He not only introduced attendees to the wide variety of tools available for digital storytelling, but he also stressed that it's not about the tools themselves. It's how the person uses them to tell the story.
Alan then participated in a panel discussion on educational technology with Cole Camplese, director, Education Technology Services (ETS); Chris Long, associate professor of philosophy; Carla Zembal-Saul, associate professor of education; and Ellysa Stern Cahoy, assistant head of Library Learning Services. The panel was moderated by Kevin Morooney, vice provost for information technology at Penn State. Long, Stern Cahoy, and Carla Zembal-Saul are ETS faculty fellows.
Even if you miss out on this event, you can still experience it through the miracle of online technology. A video of the presentation is available here on the Penn State University Libraries media site. You can see a slide show of Alan's presentation here.
